4.5 ****Crossing the Line was a more than appropriate title for this short story. The characters crossed the line in more ways than one. The author takes us back to the segregated south with a story of taboo (for that time) and truly forbidden desires. The reader is presented with the white daughter of a politician and segregationist, a colored boy, and another white male that's sweet on more things than we think.
I think the story was well-written and the sexual interaction was hot, especially the scene towards the end of the book. YUMMM!!!

Allison Chappell really delivers in this first book of her Forbidden Desires series. The book is well written and the story and characters are interesting. This is a book about forbidden romance, but also about forbidden lust. Get ready for the pages to sizzle, as Ms. Chappell does not shy away from this taboo subject.
I have now read two of the books in this series and have been very happy with both. I'll be back for more.
Crossing the Line captures romance and intrigue in segregagted Alabama and adds plenty of heat to the story. The series title is "Forbidden Desires" and this book delivers by presenting a relationship between the daughter of a powerful, white Senator and the son of the housekeeper. The story is well-told and has a great, very hot ending.
